Mammals are the Strangest Animals on Earth

Author's Note: I chose to write this essay on mammals because I think they are the strangest.

As the sun goes down and the moon comes up, bats swarm go around in groups flying over the night sky. Somewhere in Australia, a platypus lays an egg. Why is it that while these animals are both mammals, they still are able to do these things? What if we could do such things? One thing is for sure, mammals are some of the strangest on kinds of animals on our planet.

Mammals are definitely interesting animals. From the swimming fish-like dolphin or the long neck giraffe, mammals seem to have quite a weird collection of creatures. When you think of a mammal, odds are you are first going to think of a cat or a dog. You probably aren’t going to think of a platypus or a dolphin.

People could disagree that mammals aren’t the strangest group of animals; which is a valid discussion since there are animals such as the jellyfish or the sponge or even the iguana. But think about animals like the Kangaroo which is like a mix of a Deer and rabbit with a pouch. The kangaroo puts its baby or “Joey” in its pouch to carry it around.  Does your jellyfish have that? How about the elephant? The gigantic mammal with a long trunk? Giraffe? Moose? How about an aardvark? I don’t think your sponges have any of that!

So if you still think that the mammals aren’t the weirdest kinds of creatures on earth, I don’t know what else to tell you. We have a huge variety that’s for sure. The world’s most strange pair of animals definitely are mammals.
